Denturist in Ottawa: dentures are the specialty

Missing teeth can chip away at your confidence as much as your bite — affecting how you speak, chew, and even how your face holds its shape. A denturist is the licensed dental professional who specializes in dentures themselves: designing them, fitting them, and adjusting them until they feel right. Here’s how your denturist in Ottawa approaches made-for-you denture care.

Denturist or dentist?

What a denturist does

Dentists and denturists are dental professionals who work in the same field but specialize in different aspects of your care. A dentist has general knowledge of dental care and looks after your overall oral health. A denturist specializes in dentures themselves — fabricating them to ensure their optimal fit, functionality, and look, and refining them until they’re comfortable to eat and speak in.

Dentures are the specialty

Denturists spend years training in how to fabricate different types of dentures, and pass a clinical exam before they’re licensed — so the focus is quality, expertise, and dentures that fit, chew, and look great.

Fit is a process, not a moment

Sore spots, looseness, or an awkward bite often come down to small adjustments. Your denturist will meet with you as many times as needed to settle the comfort and fit of your new dentures.

Working alongside dentists

We work with a large number of dentists and coordinate treatment with dentists in Ottawa. Your dentist remains the right choice for your overall oral health and should be consulted regularly.

Both a dentist and a denturist are a great choice, depending on your needs — and for dentures, you don’t have to choose between them. We coordinate so each professional does what they do best.

Denture solutions

What Ottawa patients come to us for

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth, and the most affordable solution. Complete dentures are appropriate when all teeth are missing; partial dentures fill the gaps when some natural teeth remain.

Implant-retained dentures are secured by dental implants — artificial roots made of titanium that bond with the jawbone over time and help preserve bone and facial structure. A periodontist or oral surgeon places the implants; your denturist can make an immediate denture to wear while your gums heal, then designs the permanent implant-retained denture once the tissue has settled. For implant patients, we always work closely with dental specialists to support a good healing process.

Quick answers

Common questions about seeing a denturist

What does a denturist do?

A denturist is the licensed dental professional who specializes in dentures — designing them, fitting them, and adjusting them until they feel right. At our Ottawa clinic, your denturist works alongside on-site lab technicians who craft each denture.

Do I need a referral to see a denturist in Ottawa?

No. You can book a consultation with one of our licensed denturists directly — no referral needed.

What’s the difference between a denturist and a dentist?

A dentist looks after your overall oral health; a denturist specializes in dentures themselves. For dentures you don’t have to choose between them — we coordinate so each professional does what they do best.

Does CDCP cover seeing a denturist?

Yes — we’re a participating Canadian Dental Care Plan provider and direct-bill CDCP for eligible treatment, including complete and partial dentures, relines and repairs.

How long do new dentures take?

Most new dentures come together over a few visits — a consultation, impressions, a try-in you approve, then delivery — with follow-up adjustments afterward until the fit feels comfortable.
