When a tooth needs to come out
An extraction may be recommended when a tooth is broken beyond repair, deeply decayed, loose from gum disease, or standing in the way of a well-fitting denture. Your denturist works with the dental team to assess the tooth and talk through every option before anything is decided.
However it’s handled, the goal is the same — relieve the problem and plan what comes next:
- Treated with care The area is fully numbed first, so you feel pressure rather than pain at every step.
- Planned with your denture Because we make dentures on-site, an immediate denture can often be ready so you’re not without teeth.
- Clear aftercare You leave knowing how to care for the area while it heals, with follow-up if you need it.

- Removal and dentures, coordinated Your denturist plans the immediate denture in advance so the timing lines up with your extraction.
- Made and adjusted on-site A new denture, reline, or quick adjustment is looked after right here in Ottawa, not sent away.
- Settled until it feels right As your gums heal and change shape, we ease pressure points and refine the fit.

In many cases an immediate denture can be planned in advance and placed once teeth are removed, so you’re not without teeth. Whether this is right for you is decided at your consultation based on your mouth and healing.
