Which of these sounds like your denture?
Tap whichever comes closest to how it feels lately. Not certain whether a reline, a rebase, or a repair is what you need? Smiley can help you think it through before you arrange a Carleton Place visit.
The same denture, made to fit again
Gums and the bone ridge underneath them slowly settle and shift, so a denture that sat close a few years back can start to rock or chafe. A reline renews just the inner surface that meets your gums, while a rebase rebuilds the body of the denture — and either way, the denture teeth you already wear carry straight across, unchanged.
When the rest of the denture is sound, refitting it hands back three things:
- A hold that stays put Reshaping the inner surface lets the denture seat firmly again, so it stops rocking and slipping.
- Easier meals and conversation Lifting the pressure off tender areas settles the sore spots, so wearing it feels comfortable once more.
- Your own teeth, kept Only the base is reworked — the familiar denture teeth move across exactly as they are.

Not at all. Your consultation, the fitting, and any adjustments all take place at our Carleton Place clinic on McNeely Avenue, by appointment. Patients come to us from right across Lanark County — Almonte, Mississippi Mills, Franktown and Ashton among them — as well as from neighbouring Perth and Smiths Falls.

When a denture that once felt secure begins to slip, lift, or rub up a sore spot, it usually means the fit has drifted — and that’s often where a reline can help. Bring it along and our licensed denturists will take a look at how it’s sitting.
-
A reline renews just the inner surface where the denture meets your gums, bringing back a close fit. A rebase goes further and rebuilds the body of the denture, while your existing teeth are carried over unchanged. Your denturist will suggest whichever fits the condition of your denture.
-
There’s no set timetable — everyone’s gums and jaw reshape at their own pace. Rather than watching a calendar, it’s simplest to come in whenever the denture starts feeling loose or uncomfortable, and we’ll check the fit then.
-
For patients who qualify, a reline may be covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan. We confirm what your coverage includes before any treatment starts, and walk you through any estimated out-of-pocket amount up front.
