Getting Dentures in Ottawa: Clinic, Lab & Coverage

Our clinic and on-site lab are in Ottawa, with fitting visits also available in Perth and Carleton Place — here’s where to start, how CDCP billing works locally, and what to bring to your first visit.

Getting dentures in Ottawa follows the same core stages as anywhere else — a consultation, impressions, a fitting, then a stretch of adjustment. If you want the full walk-through of that process, our guide to getting dentures covers it start to finish. What’s worth knowing separately is what’s specific to doing it here: where our clinic and lab actually are, how CDCP billing works locally, and which of our locations can see you through each stage. Because dentures aren’t a one-visit purchase — you’ll likely be back for the odd adjustment, reline, or repair for years afterward — where you start matters more than it might for other dental work. Here’s the Ottawa-specific picture.

Where to start

Your starting point is a free consultation at our clinic on Rooney’s Lane, in south Ottawa. You don’t need a referral from a dentist or physician to book one — you can call our team or request an appointment online directly. At this visit, one of our denturists examines your mouth, talks through whether a complete denture, a partial, or an immediate denture suits your situation, and answers questions about timelines and coverage. Because our on-site lab shares the same building, there’s no separate lab visit to arrange — everything from that first conversation onward happens under one Ottawa roof. Digital impressions and 3D scanning are used from that first visit onward, so the plan your denturist and lab technicians work from is precise from the start rather than adjusted after the fact.

Why the local lab matters

Many denture clinics send impressions out to a lab elsewhere and wait for the finished piece to come back by courier. Ours doesn’t work that way: the same building where you’re seen also houses the lab, where our skilled technicians handcraft your denture from the design your denturist creates. That matters most when something needs to change quickly. A reline, a small repair, or a bite adjustment can often be turned around locally rather than shipped off-site and waited on, because the people who built your denture are the same people making the fix. It also means your denturist can check in with the lab technicians directly while your denture is being made, instead of relaying notes back and forth with an outside supplier. Years later, when your gums or jawbone have changed shape and a reline is due, or a clasp on a partial needs attention, the same lab that built the original piece is the one adjusting it — with your case already on file.

CDCP in Ottawa

If you’re covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan, our Ottawa clinic bills CDCP directly for eligible treatment, so in most cases you pay only any remaining portion at your visit rather than paying in full and waiting on reimbursement. Before any treatment begins, our team puts together a written estimate specific to your mouth, so you know what CDCP is expected to cover and what, if anything, is left over. Cost depends on the type of denture and any preparation involved, such as extractions; our denture cost guide walks through those factors if you’d like a general sense before your consultation. If you’re not yet sure whether you qualify for CDCP, that’s a normal question to bring to your consultation rather than something you need to work out beforehand — our team can talk through it with you and check your coverage before anything is booked.

Beyond Ottawa Central

Our lab is based at the Ottawa clinic, but it isn’t the only place you can be seen. Fitting appointments are also available at our Perth and Carleton Place clinics, with your denture designed and crafted at the Ottawa lab, then brought to you there for fitting and adjustments — so a longer drive to Ottawa isn’t always necessary once your denture is underway. Across our locations, our team sees patients from Ottawa and the surrounding area, including Kanata, Nepean, Barrhaven, and Orléans. Our Kanata clinic is opening in September 2026; until then, patients from that area are welcome to book at Ottawa Central or whichever of our clinics is easiest to reach. Wherever you’re coming from, the first step is the same free consultation described above — ask our team which clinic makes the most sense for your appointments.

Your first visit

A little preparation makes the first visit smoother. Bring a list of any medications you’re currently taking, details of any dental or drug insurance you have, and your CDCP member card if you’re enrolled. If you still have some natural teeth, be ready to talk about their condition, since that affects whether a partial or complete denture is the right direction for you. Plan for the visit to run longer than a routine dental check-up — your denturist takes the time to examine your mouth properly and talk through your options rather than rushing a decision. It’s also fine to bring a family member or friend along, especially if you’d like a second set of ears for the conversation. Nothing is finalized at this first visit; you leave with a clear next step and as much time as you need before committing to treatment, wherever in the Ottawa area that visit ends up being.
